SOFI Online Medical Records Arrive at Maison La Cathédrale

SOFI online medical records have just been adopted at Maison La Cathédrale, an intermediate resource (IR) located in Trois-Rivières that has been serving seniors since 1993. Its objective? To offer its 27 residents an enriching, safe, warm, and stable living environment, while constantly improving the quality of services and care provided to them.

“If you are starting an establishment, buy SOFI right away and begin from the start with a care management system. It is a must!”

— Marc-André Dion, General Manager of Maison La Cathédrale

At the heart of the issue: a reorganization of services making the task too arduous

In 2017-2018, care services were reorganized in the region, moving from the hands of nurses at the CIUSSS MCQ (Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux de la Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec) to those of intermediate resources. During this transition period, Mr. Dion’s workload increased by an extra half-day every week. It was the final straw. It then became imperative to computerize care and have an online medical record for each resident.

SOFI offers online medical records highly recommended by the ARIHQ and Maison MAVA

It was through the Association des ressources intermédiaires d’hébergement du Québec (ARIHQ) that Marc-André Dion was introduced to SOFI. He then spoke with Manon Charpentier—owner of Maison MAVA—who also praised its merits. He had the opportunity to see SOFI in action within her establishment. He discovered a very intuitive interface and a highly reliable cloud-based environment for managing schedules, administering care plans, and keeping each resident’s information in an online medical record. No doubt remained: SOFI was the resource he needed, and he was convinced his team would adopt it quickly.

A practical and secure solution that wins unanimous approval

Now that Maison La Cathédrale is responsible for administering care to its residents, SOFI is saving Marc-André Dion a tremendous amount of time. There is no longer a need to produce weekly work plans; he simply adjusts them when a change occurs in the care provided to residents. In practical terms, this represents a wealth of hours recovered every week! SOFI also facilitates employee management and task tracking.

Furthermore, thanks to tools such as the integrated email messaging, Mr. Dion has noticed a significant improvement in the efficiency of communications between IR staff and external stakeholders. For example, pharmacists use it to notify Maison La Cathédrale staff of any changes or specific details in a resident’s pharmacological profile, and the profile is uploaded directly into SOFI.

“Nurses and social workers from the CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec are already familiar with SOFI and use it remotely from their offices! Indeed, more and more senior residences, private seniors’ homes (RPA), and intermediate resources (IR) in the region are working with this health and care management software.”

— Marc-André Dion

Finally, with SOFI, resident information is kept in a highly secure location—the AWS cloud of a company that needs no introduction: Amazon. Instead of stacking dozens or even hundreds of boxes of paper that could be lost or burned, all information for active and inactive residents of Maison La Cathédrale is digitally archived in the SOFI cloud. This is a most reassuring method for Mr. Dion and the families of his residents.
